Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree -release date, storyline and new content

OK, Tarnished! The trailer of Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree has been released for a long time. Nowadays, official Elden Ring account have announced a delightful news that the Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree is set to release globally on June 21,2024 for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC. Before we dive into Elden Ring DLC world, let’s know some key information about it.

 

 

Storyline

From the three minutes of short trailer we can learn that Shadow of the Erdtree tells a story about Miquella - Malenia's twin brother. The narrative focus will be on Miquella, Miquella is the demigod offspring of Queen Marika and Radagon. The twins were born with a curse, with Miquella doomed to be eternally young and never grow to an adult.

 

Guided by Empyrean Miquella, players are beckoned to the Land of Shadow, a place obscured by the Erdtree. In these strange new lands, Miquella’s body will serve as the entry point for the new DLC area. You will follow in Miquella's footsteps in the Land of Shadow area in the DLC and explore the vast and expansive Land of Shadow, which is said to be around the size of Limgrave in the base game.

 

New Content

Shadow of the Erdtree adds new locations, weapons, equipment, weapon skills and magic not found in the base game ELDEN RING, along with new enemies, boss encounters and plotlines to further increase players' RPG freedom.

 

This expansion has introduced two new locations, Land of Shadow and Belurat, Tower Settlement.

 

The Land of Shadow is cloaked in mystery and obscured by the Erdtree, making it a place of significant historical and narrative importance within the game's universe. First of all, this place is is where the goddess Marika first set foot, marking it is an ancient and mysterious place. Secondly, Miquella,a pivotal character in "Elden Ring," journeyed to the Land of Shadow. That shows this area plays a central role in uncovering more about Miquella's motivations and actions. Finally,  The Land of Shadow features diverse situations, meticulous dungeons, and menacing enemies. Players will encounter new boss characters, such as Messmer the Impaler and the Divine Beast Dancing Lion. So it is a place players cannot underestimated.

 

Belurat, Tower Settlement is a other newly introduced location in the "Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree" expansion. As part of the Land of Shadow, Belurat holds historical and narrative importance. It serves as a focal point for the expansion's storyline, intertwining with the lore of the Erdtree and Miquella’s journey. This location is offering players a fresh area to explore with its own unique characteristics and challenges.

 

 

As for boss, there are three new bosses Divine Beast Dancing Lion, Messmer the Impaler and Rellana introduced in the trailer. It will be a difficult fight when you encounter the Divine Beast Dancing Lion, it can cause massive damage to you.Here I suggest you to buy some powerful weapons in elden ring runes.

 

Perhaps the coolest aspect of this particular boss was the fact that its second phase has it alternating between ice and lightning power ups, forcing you to also have to contend with either random lightning strikes, or massive AOE ice attacks that build up frostbite, on top of also avoiding his heavy hitting attacks.

 

Messmer the Impaler is a central antagonist in the new expansion, residing in the Land of Shadow. He is one of the formidable bosses players must face,  embodies the violent and tumultuous past of this land.

 

Relanna was definitely the hardest boss to take down in the DLC, combining fearsome melee sword skills with extremely powerful magic attacks. In her second phase, her two swords would be imbued with red and blue flames, giving them all new attacks that would set the arena ablaze and make them extremely difficult to get out of the way of.

 

The new enemy revealed on Twitter suggests that players can expect to face challenging foes with magical or fire-based abilities. The DLC difficulty will be equivalent to the level of the second half of the game, but players will have the option to choose their challenge intensity through a new level system.

 

In terms of weapons and magic, the DLC will introduce many new weapons, combat skills, and spells. There will be eight new categories of weapons added, like Igon's Greatbow, Greatsword of Solitude, Rellana's Twinblade, Bone Bow, Milady, Anvil Hammer, Igon's Harpoon, etc, providing players with new experiences and tactics to develop.
